On Nov. 22nd, 2009, a team of 13 people from the PAOFM embarked on a two week trip to Kenya, East Africa. While there, the team assisted in the construction of a home for orphaned children in Kisumu, western Kenya. This home is part of a larger project called Villages of Hope - Africa, which has villages in Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Zambia as well. Most of these children have lost their parents to AIDS, and have no one left to care for them. The homes are built to take in these children and provide them with a new mom that cares for their physical, emotional and spiritual needs in an environment of love and security. The homes cost $20,000 CAD. They also have the opportunity to attend school in the village.
We believe these children are receiving the skills and moral values necessary to grow up to become productive citizens of their country, and the leaders of tomorrow. Through the PAOC's ChildCare Plus program, people can sponsor these children to cover the costs of caring for these children. You can be involved! For information on sponsoring children at the Village of Hope in Kisumu, western Kenya please contact Deanne Perry at doperry@shaw.ca or call her at (780) 713-6402.
If you would like to contribute in some way towards the cost of constructing a Village of Hope Home, please contact the PAOFM at 780 791-3366 and speak with Pastor Dawn.
